Local Administration
Of the 3700 residents of the pastoral district "Färila, Kårböle and Los-Hamra", the majority belong to Church of Sweden. The minimum voting age is 16.
There are 3473 persons with voting privileges for "Kyrkofullmäktige" of the district at the election of September 18, 2005. Last time - in 2001, 16% used their right.
"Kyrkofullmäktige" includes 17 elected members. This council is the body that decides the level of church due to be paid by those on the membership roll, and the due for burial of all registrated people in the geographical area.
The Church of Sweden is responsible for the burial of all who are registered in the geographical area independent of Church membership. Each parish is to provide burial ground, access to cremation, and a locale for a non-religious ceremony for those who desire.
The Council's responsibilities are set out in the Ordinance: - To set the goals and guidelines for the pastoral district's work.
- To draft the budget, set the church fee and deal with the important financial matters.
- The organization of the local parish councils, the committees.
- Election of members of the councils and committees.
- Election of chartered accountants.
- Remuneration of elected representatives.
- Adopt the annual report and accounts.
There is a committee for common administration of the district named "Kyrkonämnd". Their responsibility is to prepare and execute the decisions of "Kyrkofullmäktige", the economical administration, the administration of property and estates, personnel management and other overarching duties.
The local parishes have a Council named "Kyrkoråd". That Council has this basic purpose, Ordinance of arrangements and preparation of public worship includes music, educational, social and evangelistic work as the mission statement.
The Chapter now has sanctioned our "Församlingsinstruktion", a formulation of an ordinance for the local parish. This ordinance set forth rules for the parishes formulated by the chapter and a local pastoral program for the basic duties. In addition to the mission statement, we added other than Swedish language assistance, sign language for the hearing impaired, further training and sharing information regarding employee common resources.
There are 22 persons employed in the pastoral district. 2 clergymen, 1 deacon, 1 educator, 3 assistants, 3 musicians, 1 accountant, 1 account assistant, vergers, burial groundskeepers.
Majority work part time with many volunteers.
