April Challenge

This month's challenge is "Self Portrait."

Objective: This is what I would like for you to do. Try doing some self portraits with your camera. Have fun, be imaginative, use mirrors if you want, or if you have a timer, try that, get silly if you want to! It doesn't have to be just holding the camera up in front of yourself to take the picture.

June Challenge

Challenge #1 "Wildlife"
This is what I would like for you to do: Take a photo of some kind of wildlife. Any creature that's alive, and lives in the great outdoors will be acceptable. So, that could be a grizzly bear, or maybe a bird, butterfly, even an ant. A lot of times we see things without really thinking about it.

Challenge #2 "Contrast"
This is what I would like for you to do: Take a photo of something that shows contrast. Again, when looking at something, look closer, and think about how the colors or tones might contrast with each other. Light/dark, smooth/rough, what do you see? Is there a very definite point where you can see the change from one to the other, or is it gradual?

Challenge July 2006
Work with taking close up shots. Sometimes it's hard to get a good closeup of something. If your camera has different settings, try using different adjustments with the settings. How close can you get to an object with your camera, and still get a sharp picture? Play around a little, and see how your camera does, what the minimum distance is that you still get what you want, and find out if you can improve on your closeup techniques. Or perhaps you'd like to just get some closeup shots of something for fun. Like those photos that you have to try to figure out what it is because the shot is so close.

Challenge September 2006
This month's challenge is from Color To Black & White.
This is what I would like for you to do. Take a color photo, and using some kind of program such as PSP, or any other one you may have, change the photo from color to a black/white, or grey scale.
Black/white photos have a character of their own. Some subjects or shots work better in black/white than others. What stands out in one, may not in another.
For this one, please send both the color and the black/white~greyscale photos, and tell us what you did to make the change.
