A Mother's Prayer

As a mother, O Lord, help this woman to be
A lighthouse beside life's troubled sea;
When storm clouds sweep my family's skies
Let me light hope in my husband's eyes.

Help me be gentle and kind during the tedious hours,
That my offspring may blossom like buds into flowers;
Then when their stars blind out and wild winds blow
Let me show my children the way they should go.

When a crisis comes to our home and hope seems lost,
Give me the strength, Lord, to guide the tempest-tossed.

Please, God, help me to live so close to Thee,
That a lighthouse each day to my family I'll be

Prayer for a soldier

I said a prayer for you today
and I know God must've heard,
I felt the answer in my heart
although He spoke no word.
I didn't ask for wealth or fame-
and I knew you wouldn't mind-
I asked him to send treasures
of a far more "lasting" kind.
I asked that He be near you,
at the start of each new day,
to grant you health and blessings
and friends to show you the way.
I asked for happiness for you
in all things great and small,
but it was for His loving care
I prayed for you most of all.
