UN day October 24

The UN day is a new day of celebrations in Sweden, an official day of flying the banners. We celebrate that we are part of a world-wide community. This day is celebrated mostly in the schools.
In different ways the children will learn that we here in Sweden are part of a great community.
E.g. the pupils make flags from lots of the countries of our world community and decorate the school. They have international food in the school restaurant. They have lessons around the task of UN and have a theme day around that.

Everything with the goal that they shall know the idea of the Declaration about The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The UN Declaration about Human Rights

A Prayer on the UN-day

Lord, you have made us different
and still we are your representation.
Help us to see the gift of multiplicity
and to live in respect for the individuality of each other.
We pray for UN, for all people and organisations
which are working for peace, justice and confidence.
We thank you for visions and perserverance, for courage and fantasy.
Strengthen our good will.
Hinder fear and lust for power to grow strong.
Bless all work for human rights.
In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ
AMEN
