Nyår	New Year
I motsats till det stillsamma julfirandet i familjens sköte firar man numera ofta nyår med stora fester, med mousserande drycker och grandiosa fyrverkerier. Tidigare lade man oftast huvudvikten vid att det är något nytt man börjar, spådomslekar och sådant kanske ingick i nyårsfirandet. Många sökte sig till kyrkan, för att be om förlåtelse för det gångna årets synder och be om välsignelse för det som komma skall under det nya året. I kyrkans år firas nyårsdagen som en böndag för fred i världen. Fredsrörelsen lever. Genom böner för fred lever den. Genom en strävan hos många att arbeta för fred och rättvisa. Genom Guds nåd lever den. Det nya året börjar i Jesu namn. Genom omsorg och och tro på möjligheterna måste arbetet för fred och rättvisa fortsätta. Trots allt. I Jesu namn.	In contrary to the family celebrating at Christmas nowadays the New Year celebrations are parties and glamour. A great feasting with sparkling drinks and fireworks. Of old the most serious meaning of celebrating New Year was to remember the fact that you were starting something new. You tried to look forward, to tell the fortune. And many people go to church to ask for remission of their sins and pray for the coming year. In the churches we celebrate New Year Day as a day of prayer for Peace in our world. The movement for Peace in our time is living. By our prayers it is living. By the struggle of many people working for peace and justice. By the grace of Our Lord it is living. The new year is beginning in the name of Jesus Christ. By care and faith in the possibilities our work for peace and justice has to go on. In spite of the forces which seem to dominate our world. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Gud
detta år är snart slut.
Tack för allt gott du har gett oss.
Tack för kärlek och vänskap,
för hälsa och krafter,
för ditt liv i vårt liv.
Till dig bär vi också fram årets besvikelser,
smärta och död,
sorg och saknad.
Tack för att du funnits med oss
också i det svåra.
Ge oss öppna hjärtan
att ta emot det nya år
som du ger oss.
I Jesu namn.

Prayer on New Years Eve

Oh Lord,
this year is soon ending.
Thank you for all good things you have given.
Thank you for love and friendship,
for health and power,
for your life in our life.
We give you all disappointments during the year:
pain and death
sorrow and regrets.
Thank you for being near
even in the hard times.
Open our hearts
to receive the new year.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
AMEN
